Conduct, culture & risk

Small problems harden into patterns when nothing changes

Written by Graham Browning · 13 March 2026

We started Arrisan because the legal sector has a problem it keeps trying to solve with the wrong tools.

Talented lawyers leave firms, and sometimes the profession, far earlier than is ideal for anyone. Careers that began with huge promise lose their way not through lack of ability, but through a series of moments that were misunderstood, mishandled, or never properly addressed.

The consequences show up in many ways: untapped potential, friction, wasted time, unhappyclients, struggling teams, complaints, burnout and damaged reputations.

Skilled supervision — one of the most powerful influences on a lawyer’s career — is still often treated as something people simply “pick up” alongside a heavy workload. Behavioural or performance issues are noticed but not always addressed until they become impossible to ignore.

And many careers, if we are honest, end up shaped more by circumstance than by deliberate choices.

In other words, problems that start small can easily become hardened patterns. Most firms recognise the outcomes. Far fewer address the causes early enough.

The usual responses range from resignation to well-intentioned initiatives that never quite change what happens day to day.

We do something different, and much more effective.

We work with individual lawyers and law firms to build the clarity, capability and confidence people need in the moments that shape performance, risk, culture and careers.

That is what Arrisan is for.

If you work in law or lead people who do — welcome. This is for you.
